Employee Spotlight – Matthew Mendini
Next up in our employee spotlight series is TroutRoute’s Marketing Specialist, Matthew Mendini, who just recently relocated to Minneapolis for TR! Matthew was raised along Wisconsin’s coast of Lake Michigan, hunting in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan more often than fishing before attending school in Chicago at DePaul University. A couple of years ago, he moved to Colorado with his partner, Becca, hoping to enjoy the state’s outdoor recreation opportunities. It wasn’t until just at the beginning of this year that he got hooked on fly fishing after receiving an old rod from Becca’s brother. Matthew spent many hours on the water this summer exploring Colorado’s waterways and utilized TroutRoutes for each new adventure. When not on the water, Matthew enjoys photographing various products in his home photo studio, cooking (Italian food is his specialty) with his partner and going on adventures with their husky, Koda.
Matthew is excited about the ability to help get the resource that has helped shape his fly fishing journey into the hands of new and experienced anglers alike!

Employee Spotlight – Jeremy Gilbertson
As our team continues to grow, we will be taking the time to introduce our team members who you may see in photos, videos or out at in-person events! This week we have Jeremy Gilbertson, our GIS Specialist. Jeremy, otherwise known as “Gill” to his friends, grew up in Maple Grove, Minnesota, and spent most of his young life fishing all over Minnesota and parts of Ontario. As a passionate distance runner, hunter, and fisherman, Jeremy feels most at home on our wild lands and waters. He loves how we can use mapping to expose beginners to the outdoors, help others find new opportunities, and better show the need for appreciation and conservation of our special resources. He is always open to hear new ideas, so feel free to throw them at him!
